Even beloved authors make mistakes in — and have regrets about — their writing.
John Green, the fan-adored writer behind The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns, addressed the criticism of one reader who took issue with Green’s use of the word “retarded” in Paper Towns.
And instead of making excuses, Green owned up to the mistake, attributing his use of the word to poor judgement and confirming it wouldn’t be used in the upcoming Paper Towns movie.
Paper Towns hits theaters July 24.
